frequently asked questions

How do I apply for the CWHM Scholarship?

Scholarship applications are available to be completed online at  https://www.cameronslight.org/cwhmscholarship. Submissions will be automatically forwarded to the scholarship committee upon completion.

When are applications due?

Scholarship applications must be received no later than 11:59PM on March 31. Extensions will not be granted. Late entries will not be considered.

What makes a scholarship submission complete?

A complete application submission will include:

  • Your completed online application

  • Your required personal statement (essay) of 250-400 words explaining why you have chosen to enter the healthcare field of study of your choice

  • Your uploaded 12th grade high school transcript through 2nd quarter

  • One (1) letter of recommendation, from a non-family member

  • Your college acceptance letter

What are you looking for in a scholarship essay?

Your personal statement is a required and important part of your scholarship application. While it will not be evaluated on writing style or grammar, it should be authentic, clear, and focused.

Your statement should:

  • Be 250–400 words in length

  • Clearly explain why you chose to pursue a career in healthcare

  • Reflect your personal experiences, motivation, or goals

This is your opportunity to share your story—what inspires you, and what drives your commitment to making a difference in the healthcare field.

If I am awarded a scholarship how and when will I receive it?

Award recipients will be notified of our decision no later than June 30th.

Will I receive scholarship money directly, or will it be applied to my tuition?

Scholarship awardees will receive payment directly. A copy of your award letter will also be mailed to your parent or guardian. It is critical you inform us of any change in address, for you or your parent/guardian, as soon as possible. Failure to communicate such change will result in delays in receiving your reward.

Can my scholarship award be withdrawn?

Who should I ask to write a recommendation letter

You should choose an individual who knows you well and can speak to your character, skills, ambitions and abilities. Letters of recommendation may be sent separately, to cwhmscholarship@cameronslight.org. All application materials must be submitted before the annual deadline of March 31.
