Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

  • Buffalo, NY 14201 USA (map)

When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan. When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower. When parents lose their child, there isn’t a word to describe them.

- Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States

October is recognized as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month to both recognize the loss so many parents experience across the United States and around the world, and to inform and provide resources for parents who have lost children due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, stillbirths, birth defects, and other causes. October 15th is observed as Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PaIL) Awareness Day around the world. The official Awareness Colors of the cause are light pink and baby blue and are synonymous with the campaigns awareness ribbon.

Clarke Hill Foundation will be partnering with Western New York Perinatal Bereavement Network, Oishei Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council and other community organizations to assist in the commemoration of PaIL Awareness Day and Month, to promote awareness about the crushing reality of perinatal loss.
